Your second trimester (13 - 26 weeks)
During this time energy levels generally increase and you are being to see and feel your baby’s development more easily. Women can find they feel so great they almost "forget" they are pregnant however the physical changes can be considerable.
Regular treatments to pamper and nurture can help you remain in good health and feel good about your transformation, as well as provide you with a good support network and sources of information.
Me & My Baby's recommended Workshops
Me & My Baby's recommended Treatments:
TopAcupuncture
At this time acupuncture can be beneficial in supporting your renewed energy levels and help you feel relaxed as well as provide an opportunity to address any minor ailments or imbalances. A specific treatment at week 26 using "moxa" is recommended to continue building strength.
TopHomeopathy
Mid trimester homeopathy can help relieve cramps; uncomfortable and embarrassing bladder issues; sleeplessness; itching or discharge and back pain.
TopMe & My Baby Signature Treatment
Our soothing Antenatal treatment supports both mother and baby by helping to balance your emotional and physical state, giving you time and space to relax. During the second trimester more oils can be safely introduced and the unique combination of personally blended oils, therapeutic aromatherapy massage and reflexology will leave you feeling uplifted, confident and comforted.
Please note pure essential oils will only be used following a full consultation.
TopNutrition
A follow up consultation will ensure good nutritional health is being maintained and address any health or dietary concerns. It can also act as a preventative or reducing measure for common pregnancy related ailments such anaemia, cystitis and thrush, constipation and heartburn.
TopOsteopathy
As your baby grows your body changes shape to accommodate the growth of the uterus and your posture changes to redistribute the extra weight. Postural tension can compromise your body's ability to adapt in this way and contribute to the aches and pains that are a common feature of many pregnancies. Osteopathic treatment can support your body in its continual process of adapting to your growing baby and help alleviate the stresses and strains that are causing you discomfort.
Problems of mechanical adaptation also contribute to many of the common ailments of pregnancy. Pressure on the diaphragm and stomach can contribute to heartburn, postural changes can compromise the ability of the chest to expand freely and contribute to shortness of breath and tension in the pelvis can compromise venous return, contributing to varicose veins and haemorrhoids. Osteopathic treatment to address these mechanical causes can help to alleviate these and many of the other common discomforts of pregnancy.
TopReflexology
Reflexology is a deeply relaxing treatment to help you cope with the changes throughout your pregnancy. It helps to balance the hormones, calm the emotions and ease muscular aches and release tension, especially in the reproduction areas. Highly recommended in pregnancy, it allows you time out for you and your baby.
TopYoga
During your first trimester we would encourage you to rest as much as possible. Taking on a new class or even continuing your standard yoga routine is not encouraged before your pregnancy is totally established. If you have been practising yoga, only restorative and supported poses are suggested.
From the second trimester, yoga can be a great way to reduce stress levels and gently prepare the body for labour. Our classes are run as a course to include techniques and positions to aid a healthy birth as well as providing a support network of other mums-to-be. As Yoga can also boost circulation, help with breathing techniques, alleviate fluid retention and improve posture to minimise back pain, it is recommended from 14 weeks until your baby's birth. Our teachers have over thirty years experience between them and provide a wealth of information to support you during this time.
One-to-one consultation with a Me & My Baby Yoga TherapistA 90 minute session will address your individual lifestyle and fitness levels, and include a gentle routine of exercises to follow at home throughout your pregnancy. Remaining fit and healthy throughout this time and learning key postures for birth can benefit both you and your baby and reduce the likelihood of potential skeletal or muscular problems later on.
This session can support our Pregnancy Yoga Courses and is ideal for the absolute beginner or if you are returning to exercise after a long break. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing for this consultation.
